Nominations and campaigning for the position of World Assembly Delegate opened on 7 October 2017, and closed one week later. The Speaker of the Union, Anaaxes, served as the Election Administrator. The final vote was verified by Speaker pro tempore Kanoria. There were 21 total valid votes cast.[1] The incumbent Delegate, Austerain, was eligible for re-election to their third consecutive term in office, but did not seek re-election. Courelli won the election after they received more votes than North American Republics. Their delegacy, first term, and the First Courellian Constitutional Period began on 23 October 2017.

Harndon nominated North American Republics on 8 October, seconded by Austerain and thirded by Freeland Newworldia. North American Republics accepted the nomination on the 10th. Kyratistani nominated Courelli on the 8th, seconded by Lawattsia. Courelli accepted the nomination on the 11th. Lawattsia nominated Freeland Newworldia on the 9th. Freeland Newworldia accepted the nomination on the 10th.[2]
