Elected Speaker

Nominations opened on 17 March 2019 for Speaker of the Union, with Interim Speaker Kanoria serving as Election Administrator. This election was unusual in that it was held concurrently with the Delegate election, and as such was the first non-ministerial election to be held alongside another since the adoption of the Third Constitution. Hirematia, who had just been elected Chancellor, could not seek reelection, as they had served two consecutive terms. Courelli was nominated by incumbent Delegate Goncar and accepted; Ramelia nominated themself. Voting lasted from 26 March to 1 April, and 17 overall votes were cast. Courelli won with 12 votes to Ramelia's 4, and was duly elected the 14th Speaker of the Union.[1][2]
