ADMINISTRATIVE ENTRY:

The Court issued an Order directing the disposition of the case files and the correction of the case title of the closed matter: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017). The Order also discharged Hirematia as Special Judge after they had completed their duties.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

Resuming proceedings in the civil case of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017), Petitioner Anaaxes moved the Court on 28 April 2018 to involuntarily dismiss the case with prejudice due to the passage of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which forecloses any adverse legal rulings whatsoever affecting the validity of the passage of the Third Amendment, thereby mooting the basis for the original suit.

The Court, with Special Judge Hirematia presiding, granted Petitioner's motion in whole and issued an Order to that effect, dismissing the case.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

Resuming proceedings in the criminal case of: Social Liberal Union v. The Fay (October 2014), a case initiated under the authority of the Second Constitution, the Court, now presided over by Chancellor Anaaxes, and issued an Order directing the Defendant be discharged with prejudice due to a speedy trial violation and that the case be closed.

Resuming proceedings in the criminal case of: Social Liberal Union v. Jevoruz (August 2017), the Court, now presided over by Chancellor Anaaxes, and issued an Order directing the Defendant be discharged without prejudice due to abandonment and closing the case.

Hirematia is confirmed by the Open Parliament and assumed office as special judge for the civil case of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017) following a vote of 8-1, with no recorded abstentions.

ADMINISTRATIVE ENTRY:

Pursuant to Article 9, Section 14 of the Constitution, Kanoria, as Speaker pro tempore, nominated and initiated a special 2-3 day-vote on the floor of the Open Parliament to appoint Member State Hirematia as special judge to preside over the civil case of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017), now pending.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

In the civil appellate case of In re Appeal of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017): the Respondent filed a response to the appellate petition on 5 April 2018, before the deadline set by the Court's earlier Order. The Respondent's response was in support of the Petitioner's requests for relief. Both sides having submitted, the Court proceeded to determine the case on the merits.

The Court held in favor of the Petitioner and granted their requested relief in whole, and issued an Opinion and Order to that effect the same day, principally by vacating the original 2 January 2018 Opinion and Order of then-Chancellor Austerain. The underlying case could therefore continue as it was originally proceeding before it was terminated prematurely.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

In the civil appellate case of In re Appeal of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017): the Petitioner moved the Court for default judgment on 1 April 2018 contingent upon if the Respondent does not file a response by a certain deadline set by court order, ranging from 5-7 days. The Court granted the motion and set the deadline for 96 hours after the Order's issuance.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

The civil appellate case of In re Appeal of: Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017) was assigned to Chancellor New Lettia for all purposes. The Court accepted the appellate petition dated 30 March 2018, as filed by Petitioner Anaaxes, Speaker of the Union, appearing in pro per with Respondent Courelli, a Member State, being the adverse party.

The Court requested the Respondent to appear and intervene in the suit.

IN CLOSED COURT, IN CAMERA, REGIONAL FORUM:

In the special matter of In re Petition of: Anaaxes (February 2018): The Court accepted, found good cause for, and granted the Petitioner's request for an exemption under the Conflict of Interest Act dated 11 February 2018, in chambers and under seal, in whole for judicial exemption from disclosure for certain foreign positions held, as specified therein.

The Court issued a sealed Order to that effect.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

The advisory opinion case titled: Advisory Opinion In re: Election Eligibility (February 2018) was assigned to Chancellor New Lettia for "moderate" priority level consideration. The Court accepted the petition for an advisory opinion dated 8 February 2018, as filed by Petitioner Courelli, in their capacity as Election Administrator for the February 2018 Speaker of the Union election.

The Court issued an advisory opinion the very same day to the effect of encouraging the Petitioner to err on the side of permitting an otherwise-qualified candidate to appear on the ballot of election as long as they will meet the requirements immediately upon assuming office, if elected.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

The civil case of Courelli v. Anaaxes (December 2017) was assigned to Chancellor Austerain for all purposes. The Court accepted the civil complaint dated 29 December 2017, as filed by Plaintiff Courelli, a Member State appearing in their personal capacity in pro per against Anaaxes.

The Defendant appeared in pro per and moved the Court on later on 29 December 2017 to intervene and appear in both their official capacity as Speaker of the Union and in their private capacity as a Member of the Open Parliament to defend in the suit. The Court denied this motion in part, granting only them the right to appear by virtue of being Speaker.

The Court deemed the complaint justiciable and summarily granted the Plaintiff's requests for relief and issued an Opinion and Order directing that voting on the relevant proposed Constitutional Amendment be halted and enjoining future votes on it unless three days of debate time has passed, as described therein.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

In the special matter of Social Liberal Union v. Tralane (November 2017): The Court accepted, found probable cause for, and granted the Social Liberal Union's petition dated 15 November 2017, ex parte, in whole for the issuance of a subpoena related to an investigation of violation(s) of the law of the Social Liberal Union. The government appeared by the Attorney General, Kanoria.

The Court issued a Subpoena to Tralane, bearing the name of the Court and the judicial officer's endorsement, directing the Respondent to supply certain names of states, if any, as therein described via telegram and under penalty of perjury to the Attorney General, a prosecutor requesting a subpoena in the course of their official duties.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

In the matter of Anaaxes v. Austerain (July 2017): The Court accepted the response filed by Defendant's counsel dated 7 August 2017 and Petitioner's reply to the response dated 9 August 2017.

With no further argument, evidence, or motions offered by the parties, the Court proceeded to determine the merits of the case based on the record established by the parties. The Court held against Petitioner, denying all their claims and requests for relief for reasons stated in the Opinion and Order dated 16 August 2017. The Court also denied the Plaintiff's counterclaim and request for relief and advised both parties to obtain an advisory opinions through the correct procedure in the same Opinion and Order.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

The Court took notice of the service of process certificate filed in the case on 9 August 2017. Upon motion of the Defendant (via the Prosecution), the Court issued an Order granting the request for additional preparation time and directing that the period be extended by 2 weeks instead of 5 days, inclusive of the original 5 days, starting from today.

IN CLOSED COURT, IN CAMERA, REGIONAL FORUM:

The criminal case of Social Liberal Union v. Jevoruz (August 2017) was assigned to Chancellor Mons Garle for all purposes following the Court's acceptance of the sealed criminal indictment, dated 2 August 2017, against Defendant Jevoruz, a Member State, for one violation of Article 5, Section 4 of the Offences and Sentencing Act by having "knowingly or willfully advocated, abeted, advised, or taught the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the lawful and legitimate government of the Social Liberal Union, by force." The government appeared by Austerain, World Assembly Delegate and North American Republics, Attorney General, as the Prosecution. The Court proceeded to consider the matter ex parte in chambers as required by the Constitution.

The Court issued an Order admitting all proffered Prosecution exhibits/screenshots into evidence and admitting an affidavit submitted by Courelli, Minister of Domestic Affairs, in support of the indictment as an exhibit. The Court also directed the indictment and all subsequent proceedings to be unsealed. The Court also directed service of process and requested the Defendant to appear, defend, plea personally or by counsel, and, to notify the Court in the time period specified if they require a public defender so that the case may proceed to trial.

IN OPEN COURT, REGIONAL FORUM:

The civil case of Anaaxes v. Austerain (July 2017) was assigned to Chancellor Mons Garle for all purposes. The Court accepted the civil complaint dated 23 July 2017, as filed by Plaintiff Anaaxes, a Member State appearing in their personal capacity in pro per against Austerain, World Assembly Delegate, in their official capacity. The Court also accepted Petitioner's proof of service by telegram to counsel for the Defendant: North American Republics, Attorney General.

The Court deemed the complaint justiciable and issued an order directing Defendant or their counsel to submit a written response to the instant civil complaint.

ADMINISTRATIVE ENTRY:

The Court of Justice of the Social Liberal Union was reorganized by operation of law into its current iteration pursuant to the provisions of the Third Constitution of the Social Liberal Union, which came into force at that time upon certification of the results of the Open Parliament vote by the Speaker of the Union.

The inaugural election for the Court's first Chancellor, Mons Garle, was held and concluded one week before the ratification of the new Constitution was complete, therefore, their term of office also began at the time of this entry, as they had immediately qualified for the office.
