Nominations for the position of Speaker of the Union opened on 5 February 2018 and closed on 12 February 2018, with voting beginning shortly thereafter. The World Assembly Delegate, Courelli, served as the Election Administrator. There were 23 valid votes of 23 total votes cast, with 1 full abstention and 3 partial abstentions. Anaaxes won the election after gaining more votes than Hirematia.[1] They took office on 19 February 2018.

Omerica nominated Anaaxes on 5 January[2], and they accepted the nomination the 8th[3]. Goncar nominated Hirematia and North American Republics on the 8th[4]. Hirematia accepted that same day[5], and North American Republics declined their nomination on the 9th[6]. New Lettia nominated Kanoria on the 8th[7], and Kanoria declined later that same day.[8]
